
Jazmine was born and raised within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam is Jazmine's mom, and is an ex-backup singer from Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her father landed in the role of curator at Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the mansion's historical site. As a 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduated, she is a major in singing. Sullivan began singing in contralto with the youth choir and just a few years later, in the adult group. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music until he was a teenager. "I began singing in solos at church and a person asked me to commit to a gospel record at the age of 11. But I wasn't ready for that," she says. "I got lucky enough to win a McDonald's contest, where students from big cities the opportunity to perform 'Accept that God is God's Will'. The audience responded to the song well." She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year 13. Sullivan was 15 when she at the time, signed her first contract with Jive Records. In Jive Records, she made the entire album but the album wasn't released. Sullivan was later dropped by the labels. Missy Elliott was the producer for a few tracks on their debut album. One of them was "Backstabbers" from Timbaland the track that Elliott created and produced, was her favorite song.
